The Law Offices of Deborah Hines is a boutique law firm focused on civil litigation and criminal law in downtown Washington, D.C. Principal Debbie Hines is a former prosecutor who has served at the state and local levels. Early in her career, Hines served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland. Debbie also worked as a Baltimore City prosecutor where she tried homicides, attempted murders, rapes, burglaries, robberies, narcotics and economic crimes before juries and participated in Grand Jury investigations.
After serving 5 years as a Baltimore prosecutor, she began her career in private practice and joined the Law Offices of Peter G. Angelos, PC. Her success at the Angelos firm led her to Washington, D.C. firms where she represented clients in courtrooms across the country. She’s litigated cases in federal courts, local state courts and appellate courts and settled many others.
The law firm practice primarily consists of the practice areas of criminal law, family law and personal injury. Hines has won million-dollar awards representing clients in civil cases and successfully defended clients accused in criminal matters.
Throughout her career, Debbie Hines has consistently maintained an “AV” rating for over 20 years which is the highest legal peer rating through Martindale Hubbell peer review system for her high legal ability and ethics. She is licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Hines graduated from George Washington University School of Law, The National Law Center with a Juris Doctorate and obtained a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania.
Debbie frequently appears in the media as a legal commentator and legal analyst addressing various legal/political issues. Her ability to succinctly explain and simplify complex legal issues comes from her vast jury trial and court room experience. Hines’ Op-Eds have appeared in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Afro American and Huffington Post.
As a firm believer of giving back to the community, Hines regularly speaks before churches, colleges, community groups and conventions on issues on social justice as an advocate for social change. She is a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
